Debt Collectors, Debt Complaints

Debt collectors trying to collect debt from the wrong person were the top source of complaints to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), according to a report released today by the Ohio PIRG Education Fund. The report also found that Ohio consumers are 20th most likely to file complaints to the CFPB about debt collection, and that debt collection is a top source of complaints.

Fixing the Broken Textbook Market

Today, a survey released by the Ohio PIRG Education Fund shows that 65 percent of student consumers have opted out of buying a college textbook due to its high price, and nearly half say that textbook costs can dictate whether they take a course.

Trouble in Toyland 2013

The 2013 Trouble in Toyland report is the 28th annual Ohio Public Interest Research Group (Ohio PIRG) survey of toy safety. In this report, Ohio PIRG provides safety guidelines for consumers when purchasing toys for small children and provides examples of toys currently on store shelves that may pose potential safety hazards.

Survey Finds Dangerous Toys on Store Shelves

Dangerous or toxic toys can still be found on America’s store shelves, according to the Ohio Public Interest Research Group’s 28th annual Trouble in Toyland report.  The survey of hazardous toys found that despite recent progress, consumers must still be wary when shopping this holiday season.
